Gall Bladder George - An Update

Okay, so the doctor finally called me back this morning. According to him, there are no stones, no dilation in the ducts, and all of my other organs appear to be just fine. For some reason, they can’t see the stomach in an ultrasound, so they weren’t able to test for ulcers or anything, but the symptoms don’t really point to that anyway (pain only later in the day after eating dinner, not related to any kind of acidic food, etc.)

Essentially, I’m about $4000 in debt to be told either fork up more money and go to a gastroenterology specialist or basically, “Suck it up and deal.”

He gave me a few ideas - oatmeal every morning, pepcid AC or some other OTC antacid, and to watch for rapid weight loss, blood in the stool, fever, etc.

Another commenter suggested I eat 5-6 fresh figs every day. I’d LOVE to, they’re my favorite, but around here (upstate NY) fresh figs are tiny and cost nearly a dollar a piece. I just can’t do it.

I am eating more fruits and veggies, at least I’m trying to. I’ve been buying a bunch of veggies and pre-making salads in big ziploc containers so when salad time comes, it’s a matter of scooping it out, dropping on a can of chicken and some dressing, and I’m done. Same with cut up fruit (sans chicken and dressing of course!)

So I’m not sure if this whole thing is George’s fault, the poor little organ he is. I don’t really know who’s to blame in there. All I know is that I’ve got 20 bucks in my checking account and am really freaked out by these bills. To the point where I’m holding off on going to a specialist and getting “scoped” because I just don’t even know where I can come up with a payment on what I’ve got now. If you know anyone who needs any design or SEO/marketing services, please tell them you know someone… me!

  1. Oh Lara…

    (((HUGS)))

I’m so sorry. I wish I knew something to say that would help.

I guess all I can say is hang in there and I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope things look up soon and I hope you feel better.

  2. The In’s and Out’s of An Aspiring Plus-Size Model

A thought that came to my mind was:  Why is there still a segregation of plus-size models from other models?  Why aren’t there fashion magazines that depict all sizes of models?
