The Biggest Loser 3 - Finale - GO NEW YORK!
He did it. He freakin’ did it. Go Erik! Go New York!
I got really nervous for a while with the whole, “Who out of the top four will NOT be weighing in tonight?!” stuff - especially when they started showing everyone on their home videos like Wylie saying, “Is it worth it?” and Kai crying and saying, “I just want to take a nap! I want a regular life! Wahhhhhh!”
Okay, and before I go further, since this “recap” is far different than any other - the person who didn’t weigh in was Heather. She’s 5 months pregnant!
And yes, I have to post a pic of my girl Jen - Holy crap she’s amazing looking! I hope that if and when I can ever get my butt in gear, I can look this gorgous:

So yeah, the whole two hours was pretty much a review of everything over the season. I’m thrilled to death to say that Poppi from NJ (I have a special place in my heart for comedians! Especially because under the noise, we heard her tell Caroline that she’s going to donate most of her prize - how freakin’ cool is that!?!) and Brian (one of those eliminated) who just blew my mind when I saw him!
There’s not much else to say - there’s rumors abound all over about people thinking that Kai was either on speed or hit the drink cart in the green room a little too heavy. She was doing these “rocker” poses and sticking her tongue out like she thought she was Gene Simmons or something. Ugh - I really dislike her.
I will say this - for the first time, TBL focused on people doing this at home. Without having a nutritionist and trainer at your beck and call, and having to live your life as well as work out and eat right. While they didn’t show much about how they did it - they did show the world that it can be done.
Season 4 is now casting, peoples… if you’re interested, all I can offer up for advice is to make your video FUN and about YOU and your lifestyle. Show your personality, whatever it might be. Don’t be afraid to show your insecurities, and just be yourself.

I was so excited that Erik won. I thought he’d not do as well as he did considering his line of work! Kai really surprised me. I didn’t think she had it in her. I was sooo proud of Poppi. Wow is all I can say. And man oh man did Jen look hot! We can tell how proud you are Jen and we are all touched (assuming you come check in here). Really thought you’d win!
As for the pregnancy - never thought her whole heart was in this for the money. :) Same thing happened to me when I lost 45 lbs. Got pg with third child. LOL! Something about feeling sexy….
I long to feel sexy again. ugh I feel gross most of the time. Hubby wanted to fast forward through most of the show and I said “if it were people telling stories of quitting smoking you’d want to see it.” His issue - smoking, mine - eating. Frankly I think my issue is harder.

Great post! I think it is odd that Heather got pregnant, but to each their own, and that’s all I’ll say about that before I get in trouble! ;) Kai was making me nuts, with the whole rocker hands and showing her tongue thing, and Adrian really bugged me…she was such a whiny baby on the show but then last night she seemed like she was trying to overcompensate for the fact that she’d gained since leaving the ranch. I’m not knocking her for gaining, heck knows how terrible I’ve done this year, but the whole “the next time you see me I’ll be one of the smallest contestants” thing…I don’t know, it just bugged me, but that’s probably because she drove me SO crazy!
I was so proud of the majority of them…it is amazing how amazing a lot of them looked. Jen, Amy, Poppy, Eric, Brian, Wylie, Marty, Jeff(?)…they all looked so good. I have to grudgingly admit that Kai looked awesome too, even though she makes me nuts and was acting horrible.
So do you know what was up with all of the celebs in the audience wearing I heart Wylie shirts? The only one I recognized was one of the ladies from Reno 911, but there was some talk on the WW boards last night about there being more, and maybe him working in TV or something. Any ideas?

YAY ERIK!!! I knew he could do it! I couldn’t remember how long they had between leaving the ranch and the finale to lose the weight though, and was a little concerned that Kai might beat him since she could potentially lose 50% of her starting weight too (which would have been physically impossible for Wylie and Heather - preggo or not) in a shorter amount of time. Yeah, Kai was acting very strange indeed. Wylie looked pretty much the same to me (but still amazing) as he did when he left the ranch. Part of me was thinking it was kind of a copout for Heather to get pregnant to avoid the whole final weigh in thing (and sort of not fair to the others that she got free stuff out of it). But then again I guess it happened 5 months ago so it’s not like it was a last minute “Oh no, I’m not gonna make it!” thing. So, anyway, congrats to them all!
Also…I was randomly reading articles on diet.ivillage.com today and found a really old interview with Bob (between seasons 1 and 2). Did you know he’s involved with this website called push.net? It’s an on-demand, customized video service that will put together a DVD workout with the trainer of your choice, including Bob himself!!! It’s 25 bucks a month though…maybe you’re better off buying (or renting from Netflix!) the Biggest Loser workout dvds.
Are you applying for season 4? I’m totally rooting for ya either way!
i know someone on my ivillage SBD site that did the push stuff. She’d been plateued at like 18 lbs above her goal weight for months and months (after losing something like 35 lbs). Well, I thought she looked fine but dude, after 3 months with the push system she was close to goal and looked rockin!
I’ll definitely have to check that out… I’m hoping someone (anyone!) gets me the DVD for Christmas though… LOL
I’m not sure if I’m going to apply. They called me last year because they’d kept my stuff on file since I was a semifinalist from the season before…
It’s really emotionally draining waiting to hear from them… especially after getting THAT far, you know? I’m not going to say that if they call me again I won’t go for it (because I totally would!) but we’ll just have to wait and see I guess. :)
I do have a 30th birthday looming over my head, girls… I’m feeling the need for some major changes in my life, and my weight is one of them. I’m feeling old and tired, and old, and tired, and it’s really starting to bother me. I’m not sure how or what I’m going to do yet - but it’s most likely going to be something I concoct all on my own… LOL
