I know I shouldn’t be shocked. I KNOW. But are you freaking kidding me?

This kid skyrockets to superstardom for being “the greatest competitor in Olympic history” and he actually is STUPID enough to not only smoke marijuana, but get caught on camera doing it?

Folks, this wasn’t some teeny little joint or something – he was smoking from a BONG.

I knew he looked like a big, stupid oaf. I’m sorry, don’t give me that “he’s a kid, he made a mistake” line of complete CRAP – we’re taught from the time we enter grade school that drugs are bad for you. He’s not some street-wise gang kid with loads of negative experiences and frustration that he would get caught up in “bad influence”. He’s 23 damn years old, supposedly educated, living in your average “good” environment and knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

What’s the matter, Mike? Endorsements not flooding at your feet anymore? Had to get some kind of publicity going? This is absurd.

I sure hope that the endorsements come to a complete and brutal stop for sure.

Oh, and here’s “Michael Phelps’ apology“:

“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

I just have so many problems with this. I know, he’s “human” and whatever. But when you get yourself out there in the public eye, you have a responsibility to your fans, to children who want to BE JUST LIKE YOU SOMEDAY. As far as I’m concerned, he’s now just as useless as Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse and all the other screwed up “idols” out there. I’m not naiive – believe me – and I know that smoking pot is never the first and only step. He’s ruined his life and he deserves it for being so freaking stupid.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention, In 2004 he got 18 months probation for DWI, too. WHAT A WINNER!!!
