Okay, I keep getting all these emails and comments from people thinking that I am Mo’Nique. I’m flattered in many ways, but as many times as I’ve tried to clarify this, people don’t appear to want to read it, or pay attention to it. So I have to post this…

I am not Mo’Nique. I don’t work for her, I don’t work for the show, and she probably never even comes to this site.

But I’ve had at least half a dozen comments and twice as many emails from people who come HERE and think that I am her.

Here’s the proof:

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for the Oxygen network wanting to link to my site, and I’m so amazed at the increase in traffic (now up over 1400 visitors per day) I’ve received from being there, and from the searches you all have done on the show, and so on. But I’m a little disheartened that no one’s taken the time to read MY story and comment on it. The only people who have said anything at all are the people who come here thinking that I am Mo’Nique, or that I have some sort of way to getting them on the show. No one checks around the site to learn more about me. No one takes the time to even learn that I’m not Mo’Nique, much less learn about me, or comment on my other posts. I don’t know what I did wrong here… why this is happening the way it is…
I’m JUST a F.A.T. white girl who auditioned for the show and entered the online competition this year. I didn’t make it on the show in the first season, and I didn’t get the chance to audition for this season. I’m not on the show, I don’t work for the show… I don’t understand why people can’t tell that from reading my entry… so that leads me to believe that no one’s reading, they’re assuming. And it’s sad… it’s really sad.

Some of your letters and such to Mo’Nique have melted my heart, and I wish there were a way I could get them to her… but I can’t.

UPDATE: Someone apparantly thinks I’m using “false advertising” and luring people in to believe that I am Mo’Nique. We all know this not to be true, what with this post, other posts, comments, clarification in other people’s comments, and the huge warning I had to put in the comments section for the entire site. However I’d like to share with you all my response to him - This is the email I sent him:

First, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to comment on my site here, however I’d like to point some things you have missed:

1. Mo’Nique’s show has linked TO me on this page of THEIR SITE, asking ME to write about my experience with my audition, my opinions, and so forth, and to link back to the show’s site. I have done so, in my sidebar where it says “Read more about my audition…” below the image of the Mo’Nique (the image that links to the show’s website), as well as here: http://www.ladydelaluna.com/general/moniques-fat-chance/ where that link in the sidebar points to - which talks about my audition for the show. NOWHERE have I claimed to be Mo’Nique, and in fact, I’ve done my level best to prove I’m NOT her in recent weeks as the apparent confusion has built up - as can be seen in this post.

2. You also apparently missed the ever-so-common “About Me” page, which not only has my photo, but other information that in no way suggests that I’m Mo’Nique.

3. You also missed another post, that contains more photos from my portfolio.

Now let’s tie this up with some direct response to your accusations:

If in fact, Ms. Lara, this is your website, why is it you allow people to come here and make comments to someone who will never read this (How do you propose I “stop” them? I’ve tried to clarify it in my comments section, and in the post about Mo’Nique’s show, in other people’s comments, and in an entirely new post. What else do you think I could do to stop people from making comments on my site that are irrelevant? PLEASE TELL ME - because I sure as hell am not encouraging it!)

…sounds like someone needs some serious attention. (Hmm. This one takes away from your “be respectful” preface, however I’ll just answer this one for you - This website is ABOUT me. So yeah, I’d guess that means I expect people to come here and read about ME, talk with ME, and learn more about ME… that is, after all, the point of a website, isn’t it?)

This is strictly false advertisement because you have Monique all on your site so what are people suppose to think? (False advertisement? First, I’m not selling anything, so your accusation makes no sense. You can’t falsely advertise something if you’re not selling anything. And I don’t have Mo’Nique all over my site. I have a photo in my sidebar, that when clicked on, goes to HER site. When you click on the words underneath that photo, it goes to a post about my audition for HER show. Nowhere in there do I say anything that could remotely be construed as a claim to be her. Apparently, you’re of the masses who don’t bother to READ something before they comment on it.)

Why not just have pictures of you? (Again, I do. All over. I’ve given you links up top there, however since you probably don’t read either, I’ll link them here again too: here are photos of me, and there’s another one right here)

I’m posting this below your comment, and may in fact create a brand new post about it as well. Again, this IS my site. My name IS Lara C. Kulpa (as it says right in the footer, which you also apparently missed reading (as did many other people for some strange reason)) and I have neither claimed to be Mo’Nique nor have I claimed to be able to send messages to her for people or anything of the sort. If YOU can prove your accusation of such, please show me exactly where I said anything like that. You can’t blame it on two pictures of her, that were sent to me BY THE NETWORK HER SHOW AIRS ON, WITH THEIR REQUEST FOR ME TO PUT IT ON MY SITE, because all that says is that you, like others, refuse to actually READ.

Thanks, but you haven’t been respectful, you haven’t helped in any way, and you’ve done nothing but make invalid accusations. If you want to criticize me, do so with a level of intelligence. Get some PROOF, some fact, before you go accusing someone of something they never did, and have gone out of their way to prevent confusion with.
